Wondering what to do, where to go, and how to celebrate this week? We’ve got you covered with a brief list of MUST-DO’s for Barcelona Pride Week!

Grab your rainbow flags, your glitter, and a whole lot of energy because it is Barcelona’s Pride Week! Barcelona Pride Week began on June 23 and will last until June 30th. In an already electric city, Barcelona’s streets will be overflowing with love as there is a full week of events in support of the LGBTQ community, from races in heels to the renowned and long-awaited Pride Parade.

BACKGROUND: SPAIN’S PRIDE

Did you know Spain was one of the first countries to legalize gay marriage on July 3rd, 2005? Way to be a leading force behind the acceptance of the LGBTQ community. In 2013, Pew Research Center conducted a survey in Spain asking, “should society accept homosexuality?” The results revealed that 88% of Spain supported the acceptance of homosexuality. With such an outstanding response, there is no doubt that Spain is known as one of the most gay-friendly countries in Europe. In addition to the eminent support of its LGBTQ community, every year since 2008, Spain has dedicated a week to celebrate gay pride. This week usually takes place toward the end of June and early July. Making it a perfect time to celebrate good weather, good company, and endless love in the streets of Spain.
